On January 22, Ambassador Ma Qiang attended the handover ceremony of Dignity Kits donated by Chinese Embassy in South Sudan to the vulnerable women and girls in Juba. Hon. Nuna Rhoda Rudolf Ndefu, Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare of South Sudan, Dr. Kidane Abraha, Acting Officer-in-Charge of the UNFPA South Sudan Country Office, and representatives of women and girls receiving assistance attended the event.

Ambassador Ma stated that China has always been committed to supporting the development of the global cause of women. China will continue providing support to South Sudanese women, and strengthen cooperation with international partners such as UNFPA, so as to promote the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
On behalf of the South Sudanese government and people, Hon. Nuna Rhoda Rudolf Ndefu expressed her appreciation towards China for this generous donation. She stated that the Dignity Kits would help the beneficiaries be free from want and fear and live a life with dignity.
Dr. Kidane Abraha stated that China’s donation of Dignity Kits was timely and the best gift for South Sudanese women in need, and UNFPA looked forward to more cooperation with the Chinese side in the future.

The donated Dignity Kits totaled 800, containing daily necessities such as the solar flashlight and soap, and will be distributed through the UNFPA network.
